In motion: On track by Jeba, Digital Art. 2025

Before the digital age of music, we carried music in a tangible form. Whether it be a Walkman and tapes, a CDMan, CD’s or a minidisc player. These became our best friends and it moulded our connection with the music. We curated our soundtrack for the day through the selection of tapes or discs we would take with us. Each instrument held a story from the person who gave you the album, or the radio show you recorded, the selection of tracks on a mix, and the journeys they made with you. There was a connectivity deeper than what was recorded on those instruments.

Jeba's day to day travels are accompanied by music. With almost everything you want to listen to at your fingertips, what really helps me stay connected with music is listening an album through its entirety, or playing a classic style mix [tape]. Certain recordings have a magic of reminding us of the different instances our lives- where we were at the time with that piece of music, what was going on and who we were with.
